Katie Malone

Secondary Science Teacher

Katie is excited to be part of the Timnath Cub community as a high school science teacher. Katie earned her undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Montana before moving all around the country hiking, climbing, and jumping in every mountain lake and river she could find. After a serendipitous sub job in Lake Placid, NY, Katie discovered that teaching would be her vocation. After a bit more travel to soothe her wanderlust, she settled in Fort Collins and earned her Masters in Education Leadership from Colorado State University. Katie still adventures in her teaching life, spending her first 10 years developing innovative science courses at Poudre High School, then later designing and opening Compass Community Collaborative School. She genuinely loves the energy, passion, and brilliance of her students and has fun every day in the classroom.

When Katie is not teaching, she loves being outside with her family. She has two daughters that both attend PSD schools, a husband who is also an educator, and a rescue pup that is just a bit strange. Together they camp, paddleboard, garden, hike, swim, bike, cook delicious food, and play games whenever possible. Whether in the classroom or in nature, Katie sees science everywhere and is constantly in awe of the natural world and the people that occupy it. She aims to bring this questioning and creativity to her science classroom daily!
