Emily is a 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts teacher as well as one of the W.E.B. (Where Everyone Belongs) coordinators and middle and high school softball coach at Timnath Middle High School. This is her 10th year teaching in Poudre School District. Before she taught in Poudre School District she completed K-12 in Poudre School District as a student, and then she graduated from Colorado State University in 2014 with her Bachelor’s degree in English and Education. Emily then completed her student teaching at Kinard Middle School, and then taught for seven years at Preston Middle School. During this time, she taught 6th and 8th grade Language Arts, 6th grade Social Studies, Speech and Debate, and the 8th grade leadership class Where Everyone Belongs (W.E.B.). In addition, Emily loves coaching middle school softball and has coached in PSD for 12 years, taking home four district championships. Emily received her Master’s Degree in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity as well as an English Language Development endorsement through the Bueno program at the University of Colorado in 2021. Emily comes from a family of teachers; her dad has taught in for 38 years, and her husband is also a teacher at Futures Lab. Emily believes all students deserve access to rich content and high levels of success, and she believes building connections with students and making learning relevant to their lives is the way to achieve this goal. When Emily isn’t teaching, you may find her reading, Pelotoning, running, or snuggling her pets. Emily is passionate about rescuing animals, spending time with her family, and traveling the world.
