James Cockrell

Head Girl's Soccer Coach

This is Coach C's second year building the Timnath High School soccer program. James Cockrell has an extensive background coaching soccer at the youth, high school, and military level, most recently as head coach for two teams with Fort Collins Arsenal Club soccer and previously in Wyoming at the F.E. Warren Air Force Base, where he played and coached during his active duty service. His team competed nationally against other military teams. James has coached 6A high school girls' soccer in his hometown - where the team finished their season with a south state (semi-finals) appearance.

In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Cockrell was a competitive club and high school soccer player. He also competed at the Junior College level as a student-athlete and overseas in the United Kingdom. During his military service, he was invited to training camp with the U.S. Air Force National team and Coach Cockrell was able to represent the U.S. Armed Forces National team in a domestic tournament. He holds a U.S. Soccer National ā€œDā€ Coaching License.
James is excited to start a player-centered soccer program built around technical skill, work ethic, character development, and the opportunity to be a consistent, caring adult in his athletes' lives. While competing at a high level, his primary goal is for his student-athletes to develop determination, a positive mindset, and a love for the game of soccer beyond high school.

Outside of coaching, Coach Cockrell recently received his bachelor's in Human Development from CSU in December. He works as the chief medical scribe for Associates of Family Medicine at UCHealth and is a substitute teacher for PSD. Coach Cockrell lives in Fort Collins with his wife, who will be starting at Timnath as a counselor and middle school cross country coach, and their dog Lady. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, learning anything new, and playing fetch with Lady.

Coach C is pumped to meet you and begin learning together this year!
