Sierra Bitsie (she/her/hers) is starting her first year at Timnath Middle High School as a High School Social Studies teacher in the fall of 2023. Previously, Sierra worked as a Graduate Assistant for Asian Pacific American Student Services and Native American Student Services at the University of Northern Colorado. She also taught fourth grade for six years at Linton Elementary School.
Sierra is a Colorado native and grew up in Lakewood, Colorado. She went to the University of Northern Colorado for her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, Master's degree in Literacy, and is currently finishing her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. She also has a graduate certificate in Native American Studies from Montana State University. In addition to teaching, Sierra works as a Native Nations Community Advisory Panelist for the City of Fort Collins, where she represents the Indigenous community on a variety of city initiatives and programs.
During her free time, Sierra loves gardening and cooking with her husband, who is also an educator in Poudre School District. She has two adorable dogs who love going on walks, playing frisbee, and snuggling on the couch. She is looking forward to getting to know her students this year!
